Time: 10:00 – 4pm

Course Description:
Photographing the Spaces Loss Leaves Behind and the Meaning We Build from Them
This course is not about providing counselling or offering fixed answers – grief is deeply personal, and everyone’s experience is unique. Instead, the workshop creates a space for honest expression and offers photography as a creative outlet for processing loss.
Facilitated by two tutors with lived experience of grief, this course explores how photography can help navigate the emotions that come with bereavement and support a journey toward healing and wellbeing.
Your Facilitators:
Adrian is a professional photographer with five years of experience. He has faced different forms of loss and has worked closely with families dealing with sudden bereavement, bringing both skill and deep empathy to his teaching.
Cathy is a photographer passionate about using creativity as therapy. She has personally used photography to help navigate her own grief. With a background in Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, and Secondary Education, she brings a thoughtful and supportive approach to the workshop.
What the Workshop Covers:
- The 5 Stages of Grief
- The 5 Ways to Wellbeing – and how photography can play a part
- How to create images that honestly reflect your emotions or explore the questions you are carrying
This workshop provides a safe, creative space for honest expression. It has been carefully designed by individuals with both personal and professional insight, and in consultation with organisations that understand the complexity of grief.
No photography experience is needed. Just bring yourself and any kind of camera, including a phone.
