This is a Street Photographers dream, as we embracing and immerse ourselves into the evening streets of Soho and China Town to get those shots only these area can really provide.

Nestling between China Town and the shopping metropolis of Oxford and Regent Street, Soho has a mixed history and reputation. Today however it is a street photographers paradise, for me even more so after some rain. Vibrant colours, reflections, silhouettes and people make Soho a real gem.

And as we cross Shaftesbury Avenue (or stop for some light trail shots) we move into the very heart of China Town with its restaurants, narrow alleyways, people eating, walking and working to provide unpaid models for those off guard shots.

Numbers are limited to 6 to ensure each participant can get as much as they wish from the workshop, which might include:

  • Learning to read the streets, predicting a shot.
  • How to look for those temporary moments of light that provide fleeting chances for great images. From car lights, mobiles and cigarette lighters.
  • Learn how to use ISO and white balance to enhance your images.
  • Practice street photography fundamentals including shutter speeds and depth of field.
  • Enhance composition and use of movement.
  • Colour or monochrome. Where does colour add or reduce image impact?
  • Black & white shooting – capturing mood and contrast.
  • Location to location or stay out? Letting images come to us.
  • Bokeh photography.
