Beyond Bridges and Balloons: Return to Redcliffe
Date: 25th February.
Time: 1000 – 1300
Location: From Bristol Bridge to Redcliffe Marina
“I enjoyed hearing about the history as this added value to the walk and the photography tips were great too. I feel you created the perfect balance between photography opportunities and historical facts.”
Ah Redcliffe, Redcliffe you draw me back. The area of Redcliffe has meant so much to me down the years, for a reason I will explain to all who come on this workshop. For all the changes it has seen this area of Bristol, often less explored than others has so so much to offer.
From the inventions that arose, its important part in the abolitionist movement, buildings to challenge the leaning Tower of Pisa, to pirates and miracles. Redcliffe has it all and, with it countless opportunities to take photos beyond the obvious and in doing so rediscover the mojo for photography, for those who worry they have lost it.
During lockdowns I took the opportunity to explore this area again and to discover so much I never knew, in the area I thought had relinquished its history to me.
As we walk and I do not profess to be a tour guide, but a professional photographer, I will point out some lesser-known sites and history that might otherwise pass us by while always focussing on the opportunity to enjoy and improve our photography skills. We will end at what I describe as Bristol’s Notting Hill!
During our time Adrian will give the opportunity to photograph:
- Buildings to people, light and shadows, reflections and the quirky.
- Point out some of the lesser-known points of this part of Bristol giving the chance to photograph beyond the obvious.
- Help with camera settings including white balance, ISO, semi-automatic settings
- Experiment with composition and perspectives.
This is a photography walk for all, whether using a smart phone, tablet or DSLR. Each offers an opportunity to photograph this incredible part of the city but moving beyond bridges and balloons and offers the chance to get creative if you wish and recover that photographic mojo!
Please Note: My ‘book any 2 of courses at the same time and get a third £30 – £35 course for free’ have become popular so I am extending the offer to make them great value Christmas gifts. Just book the two and email what you wish to book for free as the third.
