Exploring Photography as a way to Well Being
Christmas Steps and beyond
Date: 19th October
Time: 10:00am – 12 midday
When we think of Bristol, we tend to think of Brunel’s Suspension Bridge, the SS Great Britain and flying balloons. But Bristol offers so many more opportunities for photography.
Over the last few years Adrian has become fascinated with the lesser known and quirky parts of Bristol and has used them to create fun photography walks that take in the history, the bizarre, the mysterious, macabre and fun and he enjoys nothing more than Christmas Steps to St Nicolas Market.
On this photography tour we have the opportunity to photograph some of the area’s historical sites, starting at Christmas Steps, across the centre for those who wish to try some street photography as we move into Corn Street (we may be lucky and find some market stalls) to the Nails, St Nicolas Market and the surrounding streets.
In just this small area there is so much of what keeps drawing Adrian back.
As we walk Adrian, who does not profess to be a tour guide, he is a professional photographer, will take point out some lesser-known sites and history that might otherwise pass us by while always focussing on the opportunity to enjoy and improve our photography skills.
During our time Adrian will give the opportunity to photograph:
- Buildings to people, light and shadows, reflections and the quirky.
- Point out some of the lesser-known points of this part of Bristol giving the chance to photograph beyond the obvious.
- Help with camera settings including white balance, ISO, and semi-automatic settings.
- Experiment with composition and perspectives.
- This is a photography walk for all, whether using a smart phone, tablet or DSLR. Each offers an opportunity to photograph this incredible part of the city but moving beyond bridges and balloons and offers the chance to get creative if you wish and rediscover that photographic mojo!
