Exploring Photography as a way to Well Being
Borough Market Photo Workshop
Date: 24th November
Time: 1pm – 8pm
Location: Borough Market, London SE1 9AL
Let me say from the start, this is not for the claustrophobic! Borough Market is at the best of times a hive of activity, a bustling heart to this part of London, adorned with street food, fish stalls, cheese stands, cakes, quaint alleyways, and people, lots of people! As such is if the ideal location if you are new to Street Photography, honestly you are not likely to noticed, and a challenge for the more advanced to get that stand out image.
It is also an area Adrian had been asked, by previous folk on his courses to run a workshop around. So here it is. Let the fun begin.
Borough Market is situated just a couple of minutes from London Bridge Tube Station, Southwark Cathedral and the Clink Prison Museum.
Adrian will guide us, not just into the market, but the surrounding alleyways and streets for the chance to photograph buildings, people, the odd and more without (so much) hustle and bustle.
Then, deep breath and into the market we go, like children into a playground.
Here we will have already been given guidance on techniques around lower light, white balance, semi auto settings, focus points and more. Here is the chance to get creative with composition, shutter speeds, movement, blur and more. Just let the imagination free.
We will remain here, guided by Adrian until about 4pm before taking a break to grab something to eat and drink and to have a much-needed rest.
After we will take a walk along the streets the line the River Thames where the chance for night photography comes alive.
Think The Shard, Hays Galleria, Tower Bridge and the atmospheric Shad Thames. And, if it decides to give us some rain, well even better, those reflections and more just come alive.
Here we will continue to use different techniques, keep ourselves creative, especially for those without tripods and learn how to adapt them for lower and changing light. Each area offers endless opportunities to get creative with settings, light, the abstract and more.
We will end around 8pm but of course you are free to slip off earlier or stay longer, Adrian often stays out!
